Case
Consider a conventional, simple cycle generating facility with four GE 7FA gas turbines. The facility employs two operators around the clock for dispatch purposes to monitor the operation of the site and to respond to any unexpected events. The average loaded cost of both operators is $64.58 per hour including benefits, bonus and other expenditures related to their employment. Providing CAMS SCS for that facility alone could require that the site only employ one operator 8-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This would reduce the hours paid to operators every year by 13,312, which would result in a yearly savings of $859,702.27 for the facility. If CAMS provided the remote operations service, one facility alone would drastically reduce their hours paid to operators. CAMS would be able to provide the SCS for roughly $350,000 per year. Instead of the plant paying approximately $860,000 to monitor operations on-site, it could outsource the operation services to our remote operations center which would result in the facility saving money in yearly costs.
Case
Consider a facility being used as a control center for multiple peaking facilities in the Northeast. The facility employs three operators and one supervisor around the clock to monitor operation of their site along with other peaking sites in the area. The average loaded cost for the operators is $77.75 per hour and the average loaded cost for the supervisor is $100.45 per hour including benefits, bonus and other expenditures related to their employment. Providing CAMS SCS for those peaking facilities could require that the site only employ the three operators and one supervisor 8-5 p.m., Monday through Friday for a maintenance shift. This would reduce the hours paid to the operators by 19,968 and the hours paid to the supervisor by 6,656 per year. Combining the hours saved for the operators and supervisors results in a yearly savings of roughly $2,221,000. If CAMS provided a remote operations service for these peaking facilities, it would significantly reduce their hours paid to operators and supervisors that perform operations monitoring currently. CAMS would be able to provide this specific SCS for roughly $900,000 per year. Instead of the plant paying the large sum associated with employing operators and supervisors around the clock, the plant could outsource the operation services to our remote operations center which would result in the facility saving money in yearly costs.
